A trading pair describes the two assets being exchanged in a trade. BitMEX offers only crypto-to-crypto pairs (e.g. BMEX/USDT). In any pair, the base currency is the asset being bought or sold, and the quote currency is the reference for pricing. The full list of available pairs is on the Spot Guide page.
What Is a Trading Pair?
A trading pair describes the asset pair being traded on a crypto exchange. It consists of two currencies: the base currency and the quote currency.
- Base currency: The asset being bought or sold. It appears first in the pair.
- Quote currency: The currency used to price the base currency. It appears second.
In the ETH/USDT pair, ETH is the base currency and USDT is the quote currency. The pair shows the price of ETH in terms of USDT. E.g., 1 ETH = 2,000 USDT
