Social Login is generally more secure than traditional password-based registration, provided the primary account (e.g., Google, Apple) uses strong security measures. Your Google or Apple password is never shared with BitMEX since your provider confirms your identity without exposing your credentials. Both Google and Apple invest heavily in security infrastructure, including biometric authentication (Face ID, fingerprint), hardware security keys, and multi-factor authentication (MFA).
However, Social Login creates a single point of failure: the security of your BitMEX account is directly dependent on the security of your linked social account. If your Google or Apple account uses a weak password or lacks MFA, your BitMEX account inherits that vulnerability. BitMEX recommends enabling the strongest available authentication on your social provider account and periodically reviewing which applications have access to your Google or Apple account via your provider's security settings.
