Following the wind-down of BitMEX exchange operations, account closure procedures depend on whether your wallet currently holds a balance.
Review the instructions and automated closure details below to manage your account status.
Automatic Closure for Zero-Balance Accounts
If your BitMEX account has a zero balance, no manual action is required:
- Following the exchange closure, all accounts with zero remaining balances are automatically processed and closed by the system.
- You do not need to open a support ticket to request closure if your balance is already zero.
How to Prepare and Close an Account with a Remaining Balance
If your account has an available balance, complete the following steps to finalize your account:
Step 1: Withdraw Your Available Funds
Before an account can be closed, all remaining assets must be transferred to an external wallet:
- Follow the withdrawal instructions in [How Do I Withdraw My Available Funds?] to transfer your assets.
Step 2: Download Your Historical Trade and Transaction Records (Optional)
Once an account is fully closed, direct self-service access to platform reports is disabled. We strongly recommend downloading your historical records for tax, accounting, or compliance purposes:
- Follow the instructions in Where can I see and download my trading history? to download your records.
Step 3: Request Account Closure
If your remaining balance has been successfully withdrawn to zero and you wish to manually close your account immediately rather than waiting for automatic closure:
- Submit a ticket from your registered email address.
Our Support team will verify your zero-balance status and confirm final deactivation.
