BitMEX applies the spam label to accounts that place an excessive number of open orders with a gross value below 0.0001 XBT. This mechanism exists to prevent order book clutter from very small orders that consume system resources without contributing meaningful liquidity.
Once an account is labelled as spam, all subsequent orders smaller than 0.0001 XBT are automatically converted to hidden orders. Hidden orders do not appear on the public order book and always pay the taker fee.
How Do I Remove the Spam Label from My Account?
Spam accounts are re-evaluated every 24 hours. If your trading behaviour changes – specifically, if you stop placing large numbers of very small orders – the spam label is removed automatically.
To avoid the spam flag: Keep order values above 0.0001 XBT. Reduce the number of simultaneously open small orders.
For full technical details on the spam mechanism and minimum order sizes, refer to the BitMEX REST API documentation on minimum order size.
