BitMEX orders have five possible statuses: new (active, awaiting fill), partially filled (partly executed with remainder pending), filled (fully executed), canceled (removed from the order book), and rejected (not accepted by the engine). Canceled and rejected orders are pruned from Order History after a few hours.
What Are the Five Order Statuses on BitMEX?
Every order on BitMEX displays one of five statuses throughout its lifecycle.
| Order Status | Description |
|---|---|
| New | The order is active but has not yet reached the desired market price. It sits on the order book awaiting execution. |
| Partially Filled | The order has been partly executed. The remaining quantity is still pending and active on the order book. |
| Filled | The order has been fully executed. All contracts have been matched and settled. |
| Canceled | The order is no longer active. It was removed from the order book either by you or by the system. |
| Rejected | The order was not accepted by the matching engine. It was never placed on the order book. |
Canceled and rejected orders are pruned from the Order History after a few hours. They may not appear if you check your history later.

Why Was My Order Canceled or Rejected?
Orders can be canceled for several reasons: you canceled it manually, it had a post-only instruction that would have filled immediately, the position entered liquidation, or it had a close-on-trigger or reduce-only instruction that conflicted with your current position.
