BitMEX offers Mirror Mode to handle balance differences. With Mirror Mode off, your trade amount is capped at the Copy Leader’s maximum. With Mirror Mode on (the default), you trade using your full balance in the same ratio as the Copy Leader. Mirror Mode cannot be changed once Copy Trading has started.
How Does Mirror Mode Handle Balance Differences in Copy Trading?
BitMEX provides Mirror Mode as a configuration option for Copy Traders who have a different balance from their Copy Leader. This setting determines how your capital is deployed relative to the leader’s trades.
Mirror Mode OFF caps your trade amount at the Copy Leader’s maximum. If the leader opens a position worth 500 USDT and you have 2,000 USDT, your position is limited to 500 USDT. The remaining balance stays unused for that trade.
Mirror Mode ON deploys your full balance in the same ratio as the Copy Leader. If the leader commits 50% of their balance to a trade, you also commit 50% of your balance. This means a Copier with a larger balance will take a proportionally larger position.
Mirror Mode is switched on by default. It cannot be changed once Copy Trading has started. Choose your preferred setting before activating Copy Trading with a leader.
