What information must the Proof of Address document show?
Required Information
Your Proof of Address document must clearly show the following key information:
- Your full name, matching the name on your ID and BitMEX account name
- Your full residential address, matching the address you entered
- The document issue date in line with valid periods mentioned below
- The issuing authority (e.g., government agency, utility company, bank)
Your file should also include the:
- Entire page if it's a single page document
- Every page showing key informations if it's multiple page document
Valid Date of Issue Periods
- Government-issued IDs/Passports - Acceptable until the document itself expires
- Government-issued tax documents - Acceptable if they are issued within the past 12 months
- Lease and tenancy agreements - Acceptable if they are issued within the past 12 months
- All other acceptable POA - Acceptable if they are issued within the past 3 months
What is not acceptable as a Proof of Address document?
Unacceptable Document Types
The following document types are not acceptable:
- Receipts and invoices
- Document that only contains a PO Box address
- Documents from Restricted/Sanctioned Jurisdiction
- Handwritten letters/notes
- Suspected fraudulent or tampered document
Unacceptable Document Presentation
Your Proof of Address document will be rejected if it is:
- Missing Key Information: Does not clearly show your full name, address, document issue date, or the issuing authority. This includes single page documents where information is only partially visible
- Missing Pages: Multi-page document where any page containing your full name, address, document issue date, or the issuing authority is missing
- Unclear: Contains text or key information that is blurry, distorted, obstructed, or obscured by reflections or glare, making it difficult to read
- Mismatching information - information on the document does not match the information provided by you
- Not Authentic: Has been edited, manipulated, or altered in any way
- Distorted: Is taken with poor lighting or at an angle that makes the information difficult to verify
